The benefits of acting socially responsible are plentiful, in that not only does it raise awareness and funding for an organization, issue, or disease, but it also strengthens the local economy and builds camaraderie.

(TRI) is proud to have provided regulatory, safety, and technical support to the Division of AIDS (DAIDS), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH for the HIV clinical trial that was chosen as the 2011 Breakthrough of the Year by Science Magazine.

The NIAID-sponsored HPTN 052 study was an international HIV prevention trial conducted in nine countries. Investigators conducting the study reported that HIV-infected heterosexual individuals who began taking antiretroviral medicines when their immune systems were relatively healthy were 96 percent less likely to transmit the virus to their uninfected partners.

Technical Resources International, Inc. (TRI) is proud to have contributed regulatory and technical support to the Division of AIDS (DAIDS), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH for the HIV study titled “Chemoprophylaxis for HIV Prevention in Men.”

Results of this trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2010, indicated that a daily dose of an oral antiretroviral drug (Gilead’s Truvada®), currently approved to treat HIV infection, reduced the risk of acquiring HIV infection by 43.8 percent among men who have sex with men. Participants who adhered most closely to the daily drug regimen had the highest rates of effectiveness of up to 72.8 percent.

TRI debuted its exhibit booth at the Partnerships in Clinical Trials 2012 Conference on March 5-7th, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. We used this opportunity to touch base with current clients, introduce ourselves to future clients, and discuss new and innovative ways of conducting clinical trials with all.

For the past 21 years, Partnerships in Clinical Trials has annually brought together and promoted dialog among professionals working in the Clinical Trials field, providing a premier site for networking and exploring the latest health-related technology and knowledge.
