TRI Gives Back to the Community by Supporting over 50 Charities
February 2018
For more than 27 years TRI has been donating and supporting a growing list of charities each year through the Anthony Lee Memorial Fund created in honor of TRI's founder. The company is now contributing to over 50 different charities annually.
TRI donates to international and national charities with a focus on supporting organizations that have a direct impact on our community. These include:
- The Montgomery County Science Fair that promotes interest in engineering, mathematics, and science in the local youth
- So Others Might Eat (SOME) that helps the homeless of our nation's capital through emergency, rebuilding, and stability services
- House of Ruth that fights to end violence against women and their children
- Hospice Caring that provides free of charge caring, non-medical support services to Montgomery County adults and children facing a life-threatening illness or grieving the death of a loved one
TRI and its staff support these important causes through monetary donations, food drives, and a multitude of other initiatives. For example, our staff members have attended the Walk to End HIV from Whitman-Walker Health as walkers and runners for the 10th consecutive year, and have contributed to a silent auction during our Holiday Gala that resulted in donations to the Children's Inn at NIH that offers a "place like home" to support the needs of children and families participating in groundbreaking research.
While new charities may be included in the list each year, TRI has consistently supported some organizations for more than a decade.
In the selection of the organizations it supports, TRI follows a strict review process that consists in gathering suggestions received by employees or that have reached out to TRI, getting to know the organization's mission, and ensuring that the charity's score on Charity Navigator, which is based on financial, accountability, and transparency factors, is acceptable.
We are proud to contribute and give back to our community, and are always exploring new ways to help local charities.
